These pictures are AWESOME- the foggy ones in the forest and on the beach, my favorites, but the one that tops them all is the first dramatic beach sunset photo. GORGEOUS. I’m so glad you shared them I’d love to read photo captions about some of these photos, but they are striking even without explanation.
I hope everything is going well for you, and keep trekking!
Hey! Thank you very much. I wish I would’ve brought a better camera but the little one i had worked great without adding a bunch of weight. So are you and John still hiking away?
No! We finished with the John Muir Trail. We’re back in school but still blogging about it. How much longer are you going to be hiking? I’m really interested to hear, as a whole, how this experience has affected you.
I am done hiking for the the project but I will continue hiking through the fall as a field assistant with Mt. Hood Community College’s Outdoor Program. I went through the program and would love to keep on keepin on, getting more students out there and showing the rest of the people what’s up. Hiking over the summer has shown me that life can be simple and has proven to me that I don’t need as much as I once thought I did (material-wise). Happiness is all in the journey, while the destination is hardly important. My best relationships have been built on sharing these outdoor experiences and I’ve come to find my own true values and morals in my time walking with friends. I have always loved the outdoors, but now I have a better understanding of how the wild world works and can use that intelligence to lead others. I have learned to observe more and disturb less, getting the most out of my glimpses of wilderness. I know a lot more now about backpacking then I ever did studying outdoor recreation in school, and honestly believe in myself as a teacher and outdoor professional. This summer has taught me more than any other education I have ever had throughout my 23 years of life. I can’t thank Alex, my sponsors, my hiking buddies and my teachers enough for giving me the chance to Hike and Learn!!! I will never be the same again and I will do my best to spread the joy of the outdoors over my lifetime.
