About Me

Hey, my name’s Heather and I love to hike. I have been an outdoor enthusiast for most of my life and a few months ago, I stumbled upon a great opportunity to spend the entire summer getting paid to recreate full-time! Basically, I am given an allowance and am sponsored to get out and hike wherever I like for 2-3 months. I can go in and out of the field as much or little as I like as long as I hike 150 miles min per month. The main point of the project is to learn how to tell people about my experience through stories, blogging, podcasting, photography and other social media. It’s a pretty good deal for me and I can’t believe I’m in this position.

I went through an application process for the project and was chosen out of 14 finalists as a recipient of the “job”/$ funds. The money is really just a kick in the pants to get me out the door. I’ll also be working at non-profit, Adventures Without Limits over the summer leading outdoor trips for people of all ages and ability levels. Find out more about AWL at www.awloutdoors.com.
