Clif Bar

Clif Bar and Company have graciously donated some delicious bars and snacks for me and some of my lucky hiking buddies to sample on our adventures! All I had to do was ask and they sent me a generous box full or Clif products to fuel my longest trip of the summer, a 2-3 week adventure on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. The company is working hard to sustain their community, the planet, the business and the people!  I am having so much fun trying the tasty bars and can’t decide what flavor is my favorite. I’ll update you at the end of my trip and let you know what I find! Thanks Clif Bar!

Hi-Tec

Hi-Tec generously donated a pack and pair of their V-Lite Lightning HPi trail hiking shoes. (http://www.hi-tec.com/us/51127-product-v_lite_lightning_hpi-womens.html). They are extremely lightweight, comfortable, and have just the right amount of support for day hiking or serious backpacking with a light load. I have worn them in for at least 100 miles thus far and love the fact that they are so breatheable and dry very quickly.  One day, the mud took one shoe completely off of my foot, but it dried and maintained its breatheability immediately. I like to wear them with a pair of lightweight nylon socks and change the insoles to Downunders or Superfeet for added support.

Granite Gear

Granite Gear is a great company, known in the backpacking world for making quality products that are created and tested by people who actually get out and backpack! I was extremely excited to find out that I was going to recieve one of their ultralight packs to use for my summer hiking project. Granite Gear sponsored me by giving me an excellent pack, the Nimbus Meridian Ki (http://www.granitegearstore.com/Nimbus-Meridian-Ki-P12C7.aspx). It’s just the right size for me to cram all of my gear in for week-long treks and doesn’t add unnecessary weight to the load because it’s only 3 lbs, 8 oz. It has a super comfortable backpanel that feels like memory foam and a soft hip belt that fits better than any pack I’ve ever had. Having a women’s specific pack makes hiking much more enjoyable because I don’t have to constantly adjust the straps. I fell into the water during a creek crossing on my last trip and the pack kept everything inside completely dry. I love my new pack and use it all the time! I highly recommend it.

Benchmade

Benchmade gifted me a folding pocket knife for my project. I use it every day and when I’m not backpacking, I carry it around with me in my purse. A good sharp knife is one of my most essential tools.

Thanks to all of my sponsors and all of the staff who worked to get the products to me! I truely appreciate your support.
